તનતેાડ પ્રયત્ન કર્યા વિના રહેવાને નથી.
હવે એક બીજો ન્હાનેા પણ અતિશિક્ષિત અને વજનદાર લાકાને પક્ષ
આ સંબંધમાં શું કહે છે તે જોઇએ. આ પક્ષને મત જાણવા માટે એક
સારૂં સાધન છે. ૧૯૨૪ માં મુંબાઇ યુનિવર્સિટીની સુધારણાનેા વિચાર કરી
સૂચના કરવા માટે મુંબાઇ સરકારે નીચેના ચૌદ ગૃહસ્થાની એક કમિટી
નીમી હતીઃ—૧ સર ચિમનલાલ સેતલવાડ ( ચેરમેન ), ૨ ડૉ. આર. પી.
પરાંજપે, ૩ મિ. એ. એલ. ૐાવન ( સેક્રેટરી ), ૪ રે. ઈ. રેંટર,
૫ મિ. એમ. આર. જયકર, ૬ મિ. એચ. પી. મેદી, છ મિ. નટરાજન્ , ૮
કૈં. ઇ. વી. સાસૂન, ૯ ×ા. કે. ટી. શાહ, ૧૦ મિ. મિર્ઝાઅલી મહમદખાન,
૧૧ સર પુરૂષાત્તદાસ ડાર્કારદાસ નાઇટ, સી. આ. ઇ., એમ. બી. ઈ. ૧૨
સર ફાજલભાઈ કરીમભાઇ નાઈટ, ૧૩ મિ. એ. બી. લકે અને ૧૪ મિ. જે.
ખી. પિટીટ. આ કકિમિટનેા મત તે જ બીજા પક્ષને મત એમ કહેવામાં હરકત
નથી. આ કમિટીએ એની યુનિવર્સિટીના પ્રશ્નને વિચાર કરી નીચે
પ્રમાણે મત દર્શાવ્યા હતેાઃ—
We have had the aims and objects of Mr. Karve's
Indian University for Women at Hingne Budruk
explained to us by its supporters and we have read
the reports of its progress. But a majority of the
witnesses on this subject hold that a separate Uni-
versity for women is wasteful of money and effort
and is likely to lower the standard of higher education
for women. They think that co-education is a sounder
principle at the University stage. Even those who are
inclined to support the existing Women's University
admit that, if the use of the Vernacular as a medium
is in some degree admitted in the colleges of the
University of Bombay and if provision of special op-
tions for women is made, a separate University is
