- આપ લખો છો તેવા પ્રયોગો કરવા એ જુગુપ્સા ઉપજાવે એવા છે. તેનાથી કશો અર્થ સરતો નથી એટલે તેને ઉત્તેજન નહીં આપવાને લેકમત કેળવવા જોઈએ. આપના આ વિચારો સાથે હું સંમત છું. આ પ્રશ્નને અંગે વિચાર કરતાં મેં કયાંક વાંચેલું રામકૃષ્ણ પરમહંસનું એક વચન મને યાદ આવે છે. કાઈ એ એમને પૂછવું કે “ પાણી ઉપર ચાલી શકાય ખરું ? ” એમણે જવાબ આપ્યો : “ હા, પણ સાધારણ અકકલવાળા માણસ હોડીવાળાને પૈસા આપી દેવાનું વધારે પસંદ કરે છે.” ”
પોતાના દીકરા એક ખ્રિસ્તી છોકરીની સાથે પર તેની વાતને ઉલ્લેખ કરીને લખ્યું : “Apropos of my son's marriage our venerable friend C. Vijayraghav of Salem wrote to him congratulating us and added that his only wish was that she might become Hindu ‘at least an Arya Samajist'. I replied that my Hinduism was wide enough to cover all great religions without any conversion. I rather feel you think the same way."
- મારા દીકરાના લગ્નની બાબતમાં સાલેમના આપણા પૂજ્ય મિત્ર સી. વિજયરાઘવે અમને અભિનંદનનો કાગળ લખ્યા. તેમાં જણાવ્યું કે મારી એટલી જ ઈચ્છા છે કે છોકરી હિંદુ થાય, કાંઈ નહીં તો આર્યસમાજી' તો થાય જ. મેં જવાબ આપ્યો કે મારું હિંદુપણું એટલું વિશાળ છે કે ધર્માતર કરાવ્યા વિના બધા જ મહાન ધર્મવાળાઓને તેમાં સમાવી શકે. મને લાગે છે આપ પણ એમ જ માને છે.”
બીજી એક વાત લખી : "Have you read Countess Tolstoy's Diaries? I read them only recently and I feel that they are a revelation of the intelligent woman's soul such as I have longed to read and have not so far read. It is a book which all who are devoted to the woman's cause, should read, mark and inwardly digest."
- કાઉન્ટસ ટોયની ડાયરીઓ તમે વાંચી છે ? મેં તે હમણાં જ વાંચી. એક બુદ્ધિમાન સ્ત્રીનું હૃદય એમાં પ્રગટ થાય છે એમ મને લાગે છે.
