by our hollow-vaulted brains,and those, that perceive it, refuse to be led by it. We have never even as much as attempted to find out the wisdom of our ancestors and yet we have condemned them unheard; and if somewhere we have dubbed that wisdom with the name of folly, nowhere have we tried to recognise that Wisdom. I think there is more common sense and sounder patriotism in the stubborn and wholesale refusal, by Our masses, to consider or even hear and endure the latest, fantasies of their seduced boys. When we shall have studied that ancient wisdom and considered both sides, the people will hear us, follow us, and even accept our theories of the follies of our best ancestors. We shall then have deserved the confidence of the people.”
“જે લોકશ્રદ્ધા નવા વિદ્વાનો ઉપર નથી બેસતી તે આ અલખના યોગીઓ ધારે તો કેટલી વારમાં મેળવી શકે ? સંસારને શુદ્ધ કરવાને માટે જોઈએ તેટલું સંસારનું જ્ઞાન, રસિકતા અને વૈરાગ્ય, નિ:સ્વાર્થ અને સ્વયંભૂ કલ્યાણ કરવાની વાસના, અને આ પુસ્તકો અને આ સંપ્રદાય : એ , સર્વ સાધનથી લોકનું શું શું કલ્યાણ ન થઈ શકે? સંસારના અતિસંસર્ગથી જાતે ભ્રષ્ટ થવાના ભયથી – યોગ્ય ભયથી – આ સાધુઓ સંસારીઓથી દૂર રહી તેમનું જેટલું કલ્યાણ થાય એટલું કરવાને માટે દૂરથી અલખ જગાવે છે પણ સંસાર બ્હેરો છે તે એ કયાંથી સાંભળે ? સરસ્વતીચંદ્ર, આ સાધુકુળનો ઉત્કર્ષ કરવો એ ત્હારો ધર્મ છે. ”
