કોણ માત્ર ? સર્વથા હવે કાલાતિપાત થાય છે માટે તમે હવે તમારા પુણ્ય વિચાર કરો અને હું જાઉં છું–”
ચન્દ્રાવલી ગઈ સરસ્વતીચંદ્ર તેની પુઠ પાછળ દૃષ્ટિ નાંખી રહ્યો. એ દૃષ્ટિમાં એનું ધ્યાન હતું એટલામાં એનું મુખ બોલવા લાગ્યું–
- “The reason firm, the temperate will,
- Endurance, foresight, strength, and skill;
- A perfect woman, nobly plann'd,
- To warn, to comfort and Command.”[૧]
એના મનમાં ભાષા ઉદય પામી.
“સુન્દરગિરિ ! કેવાં સુન્દર મનુષ્યને તું આશ્રય આપેછે? ચન્દ્રાવલી ! જે કાળે તમારા જેવી આર્યાઓ આ નિમ્નદેશમાં પ્રકાશતી હશે, જે કાળે વિદ્યા, રસ, અને પવિત્રતાના સંગમનાં તીર્થ આ દેશને ઉચ્ચદશાના અનુભવ કરાવતાં હશે, આજની અશિક્ષિત સૌભાગ્યદેવીની પ્રેમાસ્પદ શુદ્ધ સુન્દરતા આવી સૂક્ષ્મ –શરીરની સમૃદ્ધિઓ સાથે ગંગાયમુના જેવો સંગમ પામતી હશે – તે કાળ ગયો જ ! આર્યદેશ અધોગતિને પામ્યો તે તેથી જ!”
“ચન્દ્રાવલીમૈયા ! મ્હારી દીક્ષાના મંત્રનું રહસ્ય તમે વળી જુદું જ સમજાવ્યું !”
“She has shown me the evolution of the individual soul from its first flash to its last goal ! And ' she challenges me to verify its truth by the practice of Yoga ! And if we believe in Western science upon mere faith, on the ground that it is open to verification if we want, can I refuse some similar reception to so proud a production of my own countrymen ? And she has shown me the place of love in the economy of Nature. She has shown me how ' life is real – life is earnest !” She has carried me through the transmigration scheme in a novel but tangible way. And she has done it all to console
