“જે ધૈર્યે તે કાળે રક્ષણ કર્યું તે આજ સહાયભૂત નહી થાય ? તે કાળે અવસર સૂક્ષ્મ હતો, પરગૃહમાં પ્રતિષ્ઠાને ભય હતું અને અન્ય ભય હતું - આ સ્થાને સાધુજનો એવાં સર્વ ભયને નષ્ટ કરે છે – ત્યાં તો ધર્મનું જ આ ભય ! એ ભયને પણ ચન્દ્રાવલી લેખતાં નથી, તેમને મન તો હું જ કુમુદનો પતિ છું અને પ્રમાદ જાર છે.
My associations cannot accept this reasoning even though ethically the lady has an unaswerable case for truth in the argument that all Hindu marriages are null and void ! The law, however, is not with her. The construction of our vast Society and the hard facts of life in it, make it only vastly and extremely perilous to admit her argument in practice.
