હાલના
લાકમતનું દિગ્દર્શન કરતાં એ લખે છે કે:—
“ To maintain that the sexes are almost, if not
quite, identical in mental and moral attributes, and
that they should enjoy identical education and pursue
identical careers, is to be ‘progressive ’. On the other
hand, those who see a profound meaning in the eter-
nal polarity of the sexes, and maintain that civilisa-
tion will be enriched and vitalised through a full
cultivation of this fruitful diversity, are without fur-
ther ado stamped as reactionaries.’ ‘

હાય તાપણુ ઘણીખરી રીતે એકરૂપ છે, અને તેથી તેમના શિક્ષણનું સ્વરૂપ
પણ એક જ હાવું જોઇએ તે તેમને વ્યવસાય પણ એક જ હાવા જોઇએ,
એવું પ્રતિપાદન કરવું એ ‘ પ્રાગતિક ’પણાનું લક્ષણ મનાય છે. એથી ઉલટું
જે લેાકાને સ્ત્રી ને પુરૂષ એ હમેશાં ભિન્ન હાઈ નિત્યઅભિમુખ રહેતી
ધ્રુવકૈાટિ+ પ્રમાણે છે એ વાતમાં જેમને વિશેષ અ ભાસે છે અને સ્ત્રીપુરૂષ
વચ્ચેના આ સુફલદાયી ભિન્નત્વને પૂર્ણ વિકાસ કરવાથી જ સંસ્કૃતિ અને
ચેતના મળીને તે અધિક સંપન્ન થશે એમ લાગે છે, તેમને વગર વિચારે
‘પરાગતિક '× કહેવામાં આવે છે.
હાલની સ્થિતિનું વર્ણન તેણે આ પ્રમાણે કર્યું છે—
“ The refusal of feminists to accept sex distinc-
tion as a basic social principle has made it impossible
for them to develop any positive aims or ideals of
their own, since these could only arise through a re-
cognition of man’s specific character. As result, the
superior positivity of the male has triumphed. The
progress of modern feminism has come to mean little
