My advice however to suspend Satyagraha whilst all energy is being devoted to Guruvayur temple does not mean that no other effort should be made about opening the other temples. That has to be made unremittingly. But just now it is a point of honour with caste Hindus to do so. It will be time enough for Harijans to think of it when it is clearly established that caste Hindus will do nothing to secure the opening of public temples to Harijans. Fortunately every day brings the news of some temple being spontaneously opened somewhere to the Harijans and from all accounts that I have been receiving such effort is being continued, though undoubtedly not with the same enthusiasm that marked the fast week. What however Harijans may do to facilitate the work of Caste Hindus is to take up, so far as it is possible, internal reform such as observance of the laws of cleanliness, and giving up carrion and drink. I have discussed such things exhaustively with you. "The matter of opening facilities for technical training of Harijan children ard offering scholarships to deserving Harijan youths, I propose to discuss with Sheth Ghanshyamdas Birla and the other members of the A. I. A. U. League when they come here to see me."
- તમને અને તમારી સાથે આવેલા મિત્રોને મળવાથી મને બહુ આનંદ થયો. મારી સલાહ તમને ગમી તેને સારુ આભારી છું. મારી પાકી ખાતરી છે કે જ્યાં સુધી પ્રજાનું બધું ધ્યાન ગુરુવાયુર પર એકાગ્ર થઈ રહ્યું છે, ત્યાં સુધી મંદિર પ્રવેશ માટે સત્યાગ્રહ ન કરાય, તેમ કાઈ થી ઉપવાસ પણ ન કરાય. તેમ જ શ્રી કેલપનને તેમ જ મારે ઉપવાસ આદરવાની જરૂર પડે તો કોઈ એ સહાનુભૂતિમાં ઉપવાસ કરવાનો વિચાર ન કરવા જોઈએ. પણુ ગુરુવાયુરના મંદિરને વિષે બધી શક્તિ એકાગ્ર થઈ રહી છે ત્યાં સુધી સત્યાગ્રહ માફ રાખવાની મારી સલાહનો અર્થ એ નથી કે બીજા મંદિરા ખોલાવવાનો બિલકુલ પ્રયત્ન ન કરવા. એ પ્રયત્ન તો અવિશ્રાનપણે કરવાનો છે. અત્યારે તો એ કેવળ સવર્ણ હિંદુઓની જ આબરૂને સવાલ છે. જ્યારે એમ ચેમ્બુ જણાય કે સવર્ણ હિંદુઓ હરિજન માટે મંદિરો બોલાવવાને કાંઈ જ કરવાના નથી ત્યારે હરિજનોને એનો વિચાર કરવાનો
