for self-sacrifice; and progress is the effect of
an ever more rigorous subjugation of the beast in
man, of an ever tenser self-restraint, an ever keener
sense of duty and responsibility. The emancipation
for which we are striving is of the judgment, not of the
appetites. In the profoundly penetrating words of
Scripture (Matt. v. 17 ), “ Think not that I am come
to destroy the law, or the prophets; I am not come
to destroy, but to fulfil. ”

મઠની પાછળના ભાગમાં વિષ્ણુદાસ, ઉત્તમાધિકારી
સાધુજનો, અને સરસ્વતીચંદ્ર બેઠા અને વિષ્ણુદાસે
પ્રસંગ ક્હાડ્યો.
“નવીનચંદ્રજી, શ્રીયદુનન્દનને નમસ્કાર ન કરનારે ચન્દ્રાવલીમૈયાને સાષ્ટાંગ નમસ્કાર કરવા પ્રયત્ન કર્યો તેને માટે ને તમારે માટે તમારે સંસાર શા અભિપ્રાય બાંધશે ?”
“જી, સંસાર છોડી આપનો આશ્રય પામનાર આપના અભિપ્રાયનો વધારે જિજ્ઞાસુ છે, નમસ્કાર કર્યો તે એ પવિત્ર મૈયાના અલખ આત્માને અને તેના સંસિદ્ધ જીવસ્ફુલિંગને, સ્ત્રીશરીરરૂપ શક્તિમાં ગુપ્ત રહેલા એ હૃદયરત્નને આ શરીરમાંના હૃદયે હૃરદયાભિમાન ધરીને પોતાની ભકિત દર્શાવવાનો એ માર્ગ લીધો. માતૃજ્યોતિ પાસે પુત્રજ્યોતિ જાતે જ નમી પડ્યું, એકને નમસ્કાર કર્યો અને અન્યને ન કર્યો તેનું કારણ એ હૃદય
